Review: Pride and Prejudice

“Pride and Prejudice”
Run time: 2:07

I have to preface my review with this caveat: the sound mixing on the DVD we rented absolutely sucked. The dialogue was so low that we had to crank the tv almost to the max, and then in the following scene there would be music and it would blast us out of the room. In one of the pivotal final scenes that takes place in the rain, we had no clue what was being said because the sound of the rain was so dominant (yes, it drowned out the dialogue).

Given the sound calamity, I can’t give this more than a middle of the road review. I thought Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn were great as Keira Knightley’s parents, but I didn’t think Knightley’s performance was Oscar worthy.

Melinda probably felt differently, and if she decides to rebut with her own review I’ll post it.
