Week 20: Eggsellent

Wow. All I can say is wow.

I never thought that the first show of “The Amigo Friends” (TAF) would be sold out and that they would be turning people away. If you would have asked me what my prediction would have been for attendance, I would have said a theater half full of our friends with some polite laughter, but was I wrong. The SC theater was packed and the crowd was so into what we were doing. I don’t think I have ever seen a crowd that hot before, laughing, clapping, really getting into it. When we walked offstage we all looked at each other with this look of “what the hell just happened out there?” It was such an incredible experience and I’m so glad I got to spend it with the other 8 amigos. I want to say thank you to everyone that came out, and those that tried to get in but were turned away – you know who you are and what group you fall into. A special thank you to my friend Glenn Morshower and his wife Carolyn who came out for the show.

We’re doing it again next week with “The Engagement Party”, same time and place: 8:00 — Second City @ 6560 Hollywood Blvd.

The rest of Saturday night brought dinner after the show with my brother-in-law, Tom, and his wife, Kelly, at Bella on Hollywood Blvd. I always enjoy getting to see them and catch up, plus it’s nice to have family around. Thank you guys for coming to the show and for opening up your home to me. After dinner, I caught up with the rest of the Amigos for Joel Veenstra’s (husband of “Amigo” Ellen) 11:00 show down at IOWest. I love that guy, he cracks me up.

Sunday’s class covered more historical time periods with an eye towards next week’s 2nd class show. Being the Easter holiday (hence the cheesy title) there was only 6 of us in class and I only saw one of the other Sunday classes meeting. Cheaters….Next week we will cover the planning for the 2nd show in full and then prepare for the vaunted Level 4/5 auditions that will take place Friday, April 20. That one is the make or break one. It means I’ve been paying attention and putting the class information to use or I’ve been collecting frequent flyer miles for no good reason. ;)

Three months ago I would have told you that I wasn’t looking forward to that audition, but after everything I’ve been through and everything I’ve been getting to do, I feel good going into it, and I feel like I’m starting to hit a nice stride. But first I have to get through two shows this weekend, and that is a great problem to have.

Miles Traveled: 2,470
Total Miles: 49,400
